Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation Unit

TASC

TASC is a non-profit organisation assisting in the rehabilitation of spinal patients in all areas of consequence to them.  They are known as the “Buddy Organisation.”

This buddy system is available for all spinal patients, whether they be accident related, medical, rehabilitation, ex-patients, or family and friends.  Assistance is given where an advocate is sought and a range of activities such as art, computer and Back on Track classes are carried out.

Back on Track is an education programme for new patients, their families and carers. The Back on Track programme is held once a fortnight at the Spinal Unit. Our Guest Speakers are people who themselves have had a Spinal impairment. Some of the Topics that are covered are:

Being out and Being seen.

Changing roles

Travel experience

Caregiving agencies

Life after Spinal Cord Injury.

These sessions are open to anyone with a Spinal concern their family or carers living in the community. It is advisable to ring the office to check topics and dates etc. New phone number (09)2703526 or (09)2703548

Kaleidoscope

New Zealand Spinal Trust

The New Zealand Spinal Trust is a registered charity (CC22028) providing information, education, research, advocacy and support for people who have spinal cord impairment (SCI), so that they may enjoy independence.

Back On Track is a patient handbook developed by the New Zealand Spinal Trust.

The New Zealand Spinal Trust was formed in 1994 to address the unmet needs of rehabilitation, information, research, advocacy and support for people with spinal cord injuries throughout New Zealand.
